Why should we care about our digital footprint?

Today we have been finding out about our digital footprint.

We read about how Ollie Robinson’s cricket career has been impacted by his digital footprint. He missed some games and he was fined. His reputation was damaged because his comments offended people. It’s impacted him because everybody knows now, and it’s something people will remember about him for a long time.

We thought about some things that we could do to craft a positive digital footprint for ourselves. We think that it’s important to think carefully about how we respond to people online and making sure we don’t say mean things to people. If other people are in the post or pictures we are sharing, make sure that they are ok with you posting it. Be careful about sharing confidential or private information, even in a private chat.

We would love to hear more suggestions. If you have any, please let us know!

Working Collaboratively Online

We have been learning about working collaboratively online.

Today we did this by:
Worked together to create a brainstorm on Jamboard about the 3 P’s to do with Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We also made a slide to introduce ourselves.

Something that we found tricky was:
That some people in our class were changing other people’s contributions to the jamboard.

Some of the solutions we came up with were:
Stay focused on your own work
Hold each other accountable in a respectful way
